Why is Understanding Copyright Important?

Understanding copyright is very crucial for everyone, especially content creators. This allows people to safely publish their content without being stolen.

It is stated by The U.S. Copyright Office that "Copyright protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed” (Johnson, 2020).

Learning and understanding copyright is also crucial for me, as I'm sure that I will not be far from creating creative content in the future. Creating is always my passion since I was young, and it does not only require creative ideas but also a sophisticated method in the realization process. Hence, as a professional creator, respecting others' creations is as significant as we want others to do the same.
